HES International aims to be a leading infrastructure partner for the energy transition in Northwest Europe. We believe that the shift to clean energy can only succeed when it is organised in a practical, scalable and reliable way.
That is why we are building logistics hubs for CO₂, hydrogen(-derivatives), e fuels, and other energy-transition-enablers; solutions that help companies accelerate their decarbonisation at realistic cost levels, using both existing and new infrastructure
Our role
- Connecting the import, storage, conversion and distribution of new energy carriers
- Accelerating projects by supporting strong partnerships, permitting processes, business cases, engineering, and potentially O&M
- Scaling up step by step by starting with minimum viable projects that are both commercially attractive and executable (in line with our CO₂ hub strategy)

‘The market for CCS is still in development.
At HES we are committed to evolve our proposition together with the specific needs of our customers.’
Otto Waterlander - Director New Energies

CO₂
We are developing two major CO₂ hubs: HWTT (Wilhelmshaven, Germany) and HBTR (Rotterdam, The Netherlands).
Purpose:
Safely capturing industrial emissions and transporting or storing them toward permanent geological storage.
Why this matters:
CO₂ storage is an immediate accelerator for industries that cannot electrify in the short term.
Ammonia → Hydrogen
HES is exploring and developing large‑scale facilities for the import, storage and conversion of hydrogen via ammonia.
Our principle is to start with a minimum viable plant, enabling faster realisation and reducing project risk.
LOHC
HES is developing an LOHC import chain via HWTT together with strategic partners.

e Fuels - MtJ
Partnership with HIF Global (supported by investors such as Porsche and EIG).

Battery Energy Storage
HES is assessing a large‑scale BESS development at HWTT.
